Light and emotions
Photographer Rudy Boyer shares his vision of street photography, emotions and techniques. Rudy was awarded by the jury of the competition Street Photography Awards in 2017.
In nice, where I live, rain comes rarely. The sun is bright and it's very difficult to hide. It is an old city in the South of France. It has retained its antique charm. Here is most of my photos.
For me light is an important element of my work. I'm trying to catch the moments in which light connects the shapes and elements of streets and buildings.
Sometimes I shoot from a very close distance. I love the intimacy, I like to feel a part of the picture, to hear other people's conversations and the smell of the spirits of passers-by. Thus, despite the fact that I do not get the photo, I feel like a part of the picture.
Sometimes I want to pull away from the frame and shooting from a distance. Then people merge with their environment, visually connecting with the city.
I care who I'm shooting and what mood carries picture. It can be people and animals. The can be surprising, funny or sexy. Emotions tell you how the image will appear.
